Yes. With a notarised power of attorney, your solicitor can sign on your behalf at every stage of the process. However, we recommend visiting in person at least once to view the property — one well-organised trip is usually enough. Most of our international clients complete their purchase in 1 or 2 visits.
The NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) is your Spanish tax identification number — mandatory for any transaction in Spain, including signing a title deed, opening a bank account or paying taxes. Without an NIE you cannot buy. Processing time is 2 to 6 weeks depending on the consulate or police station. Start the application as soon as you know you want to buy — don't wait until you've found the property.
Prices in the area have been rising steadily since 2021. International demand — particularly from UK, German and Dutch buyers — remains strong, and quality stock is limited.
